The population of Canmore has increased to nearly 14,000 people in 2016, up from 12,288 five years earlier.

The numbers, released in early February, were part of the federal census.

Officials with the Town of Canmore said it reinforces council's priority to address the lack of affordable housing in town, as well as the number of visitors in the community.
