Who we are

Canmore Commons is a collection of knowledge and resources brought together through interviews with dozens of experts, entrepreneurs and leaders in the Bow Valley. We have tapped into Canmore's world-class community of scientists, engineers, business owners, wildlife experts, town planners and others to bring you a comprehensive overview of the issues. This project began as an effort to personally understand the forces at play and the factors determining development on the largest owned land parcels in the valley, those that significantly shape the character and livability of the town. The website is the culmination of our research and outreach, processed in a way we hope the community will find useful to increase their own understanding of the complexities involved in attempting to live in harmony with wildlife and development in this valley.

As Treaty 7 people, we respect the traditional territories and home of the Stoney Nakoda, Blackfoot and Tsuut’ina Nations, as well as Zone 3 Métis and we aim to understand and incorporate the wisdom and experience they possess into the Canmore Commons.
