Expanding the “Future Growth Boundary” for the Smith Creek ASP is a BIG deal. The land in question is currently zoned as Wildland Conservation. The Thunderstone Quarrying permit requires reclamation (like what was done at Quarry Lake and at the “Meadow” at the Nordic Centre - old mining sites).
This area of the proposed Smith Creek ASP is also subject to the BCEAG Guidelines since it is NOT part of the NRCB decision.
The relevant area that would need to be added to the “Future Growth Boundary” lies between the red and purple lines. The black lines show the BCEAG-compliant corridor boundaries. The map is based on the attached Wind Valley Area Study conducted by the province in 2002.
